Across Borders, Southeast Asia Builds a Governance Platform

For the past two and a half years, NRGI partners in Southeast Asia have worked together to create their very own, and very first, regional guide to governance in the extractive sector.

The Framework for Extractive Industries Governance in ASEAN, available here in English, helps member countries of the Association of Southeast Asian Nations address governance challenges they face as they manage natural resource wealth to meet important development goals for current and future generations.

Nepalese govt gearing up for green governance

Efforts are underway to introduce environment friendly governance at the grassroots within the current fiscal.

The Ministry of Federal Affairs and Local Development is working towards this end. “We have prepared a draft of an integrated guideline in a bid to deliver environment friendly local governance‚” said Shanta Bahadur Shrestha‚ secretary at the ministry.

Greening Governance in Asia-Pacific

Once every two years, IGES releases a white paper focusing on key policy agendas in the Asia-Pacific region. The Fourth IGES White Paper, entitled "Greening Governance in Asia-Pacific" examines innovative approaches to governance and institutions that have emerged from the region and recommends governance arrangements and policy solutions to accelerate the transition to a green economy, and argues that, without significant governance reform in Asia-Pacific, global sustainable development will remain an under-implemented ideal rather than a new reality.
