Mae Wong dam pushed by Nakhon Sawan group

A group of Nakhon Sawan residents are urging the government to press ahead with construction of the Mae Wong dam, arguing it would help solve drought and flooding problems.

Representatives led by Samrong Yiangyong, a member of the Sakae Krang river basin committee, submitted a letter to Agriculture and Cooperatives Minister Chatchai Sarikulya on Tuesday.

Activists slam 'fast-track' order

A grassroots network has lashed out at the use of special powers to "fast track" mandatory environmental impact assessments (EIA) for megaprojects.

A network of 46 civic groups, including Sueb Nakhasathien Foundation (SNF) and the Stop Global Warming Association (SGWA), issued a statement Wednesday, calling on the government to scrap an order issued on Monday by Prime Minister Prayut Chan-o-cha, in his capacity as the National Council for Peace and Order (NCPO) chief.

Court revokes order setting up Rayong industrial estate

RAYONG – Villagers in Muang district have won a long-running case in the Administrative Court, which on Wednesday revoked the order establishing the Lakchai Muang Yang industrial estate in their area.

The LK-Rubber Industrial City Hub was being developed by Bangkok-based Tribeca Enterprise Co Ltd, a subsidiary of rubber firm Thai Hua group.
