New Delhi: Environment minister Prakash Javadekar on Friday announced the immediate setting up of a control room in the Central Pollution Control Board (CPCB) for a daily review of levels of air pollution and monitoring air quality in the national capital region centred on Delhi.
Javadekar’s announcement came after a meeting of environment ministers of Delhi, Rajasthan, Uttar Pradesh, Punjab and Haryana convened for reviewing air quality situation in northern India. The burning of crop residue has already led to a thick layer of smog enveloping Delhi and adjoining regions.
