683,171 hectares NCR land in Sarawak already surveyed

Assistant Minister in the Chief Minister’s Office, Datuk Mohd Naroden Majais said they included 3,977 individual lots of 4,598 hectares gazetted as Bumiputera Common Reserve under Section 6 of the State Land Code.

“A total of RM92.3 million was spent on the NCR land survey,” he said when replying to a question from Joseph Mauh Ikeh (BN-Tamin) who asked about the status of NCR land survey in the Sarawak State Assembly here, today.

Little risk of seismic activity at dam project site

KUCHING: There is little risk of seismic activity in the proposed Baleh Dam project area according to various studies, the State Legislative Assembly heard.

Assistant Public Utilities Minister Datuk Sylvester Entri said a geological study and seismicity assessment were conducted in accordance with established guidelines of the International Commission on Large Dams by MWH Global Malaysia and GHD Group during the feasibility study in 2010.

SEB waiting for state’s nod to start Baleh dam construction

MURUM, (Sarawak), Oct 26 — State energy firm Sarawak Energy Berhad (SEB) said yesterday that it is waiting on the state government to give the green light to get started on the construction of the Baleh dam in the Belaga district.

SEB chief executive Datuk Torstein Dale Sjotveit said they are ready to start building the 1,300 megawatt (MW) facility.

"Basically, it is a political decision on the part of the state government," the Norwegian said after the launch of the Pesta Penan Murum at the Tegulang resettlement scheme here.
