MPE Webinar Series Session on Community Participation in EIA/EMMP Monitoring

Date:
26 Feb 2016

1. Webinar Introduction

Mekong Partnership for the Environment (MPE) and Asian Environmental Compliance and Enforcement Network (AECEN) held the first MPE Webinar Series Session on “Community Participation in EIA/EMMP Monitoring” on 26 February 2016 hosted by Dr. Peter King.

This first session of the webinar series was designed to provide the Regional Technical Working Group on EIA and other attendees with an opportunity to exchange information on how to ensure that community involvement and participation are taken into account at the early stage in project design, impact assessment, implementation of mitigation measures and ongoing project monitoring and management plans. This will help to ensure that the views of the community and affected stakeholders are strongly considered by the EIA consultant, the project proponent and the government. It will also help to build the partnership between the affected community and the project proponent, not only in the EIA phase but also during operation and right up until decommissioning.
